Tea Themed Tree For Spring & Summer

"Ecstasy is a glass full of tea and a piece of sugar in the mouth."  Alexander Pushin

There is a little tree that is set up all year in my house.  Once upon a time, I changed out the ornaments, ribbons, etc. every month to go with the events planned during that month.  It became a lot of work for someone who still teaches full time and, to be honest, for someone who has less energy as I 'mature'.    Now, I change the tree only 4-6 times per year.  This Spring, I decided to forgo the bunnies and eggs I did last year and focus on a 'winged' and tea theme.

The wall looks blue, but it is really more greenish.  This display is in what I call the Kitchen Annex.  Over the years it has  been a family room, TV room, and playroom.  My kitchen is quite small and opens onto this space that now houses a table with six chairs, china cupboards, and a large roll top desk and my husband's 'office'.

There are butterflies and birds (always near and dear to my heart) and small teacup and teapot ornaments given to me or purchased over the years.

The sparkly winged creatures make me smile!  The Spode teapot was a gift from my daughter.  I have a set of Christmas Spode that we use as our 'everyday' dishes during the holiday season.

I bought the little shamrock teacup for myself.  I am Irish and couldn't resist.

I love the saying on the tag ornament below.  So very true!

The blue teapot in the photo below is one of many that I bought to give as favors for the little girls who came to my daughter's first formal tea party.  I saved one for each of us.  Happy memories!  My beautiful grown-up Victoria-Rose still loves tea parties!

I hope your day is filled with lovely thoughts and things and that you have time to sit and enjoy a cup of tea!

Edited to add that I am linking up to these lovely Tea Blog linky parties:

  1. What a lovely idea Karen, I love my Christmas tree and have it up for such a long time..... maybe I need an 'occasion tree' too?

    1. Thank you, Nicole. I think your children would love to help you think of themes and decorate with you (especially Liddy and Tilly). I always thought a tiny toys/dolls clothes theme would be cute but I never got around to it before my two wouldn't be interested.

  2. What a cute little tree, Karen! I have the same little blue and white teacup although I haven't decorated a teacup tree for a couple of years. An 'occasion' tree is a wonderful idea although it does take time and energy to do that. Thanks so much for sharing and joining me for tea today. Enjoy your day.

    Blessings,
    Sandi

  4. Thank you for your recent visit as it brought me to your lovely blog. I've been interested in having a themed tree, but like you mentioned it is a lot of work changing it. Of course your tea themed tree piqued my interest. What a great way to display tiny teacup ornaments and other special trinkets. You wove the ribbon beautifully throughout the tree. I enjoyed looking at all of your unique ornaments.

  13. Oh Karen, your tree is adorable! What fun to have a tea themed tree. My favorite is the shamrock one, too, since I'm also Irish. Your tree must make you smile whenever you see it. I have a friend that decorates a large Christmas tree for the seasons. It saves her from having to haul it down each Christmas.

    1. Thank you! We used to have an elderly neighbor who left her large tree up all year decorated for Christmas because it made her happy! I understand that!

  14. Thanks for sharing your pretty tea tree. It's too sweet. I have a hard enough time decorating the Christmas tree so I'd never make with a tree for every month.
