A Rainy Afternoon Cuppa in a Golden Crocus

"You see, rainy days are my favorite tea weather.  The moment the kettle pipes on the stove, a sense of well-being overtakes me, a delicious feeling of comfort and calm."                                                                             Tea with Victoria Rose by Susan Wheeler and Paul Kortepeter

My daughter, Victoria-Rose, is very much like the rabbit in the book quoted above.  She absolutely adores rainy weather...as long as she doesn't have to go out in it.  She agrees with the rabbit (also named Victoria Rose) that "the feeling of being snug indoors is not possible without raw weather outdoors. It's the contrast of warmth and chill, of light and dark, that makes rainy days extraordinary."  When you look at a rainy day in this light, you can really enjoy it!

We have been having LOTS of rainy weather here in 'sunny' Florida lately!  It has rained so much this week that the garden is soggy and new rain just sits in puddles in the grass for hours before it can be absorbed.  Not that I am complaining.  Not at all.  It gives me an excuse to sit and sip a cup of tea and catch up on reading and other blogger's posts.  It also allows me uninterrupted time in my little sewing studio.

It is time for a little cup of refreshment!  My chosen cup today is one that I recently acquired on a short excursion to Mount Dora (Florida).  What a quaint and lovely little city!  (I hope to blog about the visit soon.)  I purchased a couple of tea things in the Hospice Antiques store downtown.  This Aynsley Golden Crocus cup and saucer set was only $6!  I think that was such a find!

Here I am all ready to enjoy my tea.  This is my 'tea station' on the kitchen counter.  The canisters hold different teas.  The teapot is Gracie Bone China, purchased at Home Goods several years ago.

Tea today is Teavana's Sakura Allure, steeped in my trusty infuser for exactly two minutes.
I hope that you get to enjoy a cup of tea today with someone special...yourself!

  1. I completely agree with your daughter regarding a cozy day indoors ! I am also jealous you're getting rain. I love rainy days and they have been scarce here in the Pacific Northwest for way too long .

I've never read Victoria Rose stories but think I'll give them a read.

  2. I also love to cozy up indoors during rainy weather. I have the same Aynsley Crocus teacup, minus the gold detailing.

  3. Hi Karen,
We are getting rainy weather now too which we needed badly. We just hope it doesn't go on too long. Our Island is very temperamental when it comes to the weather. I love your Aynsley teacup! The crocus shape is so beautiful and your teacup is very elegant. I have one teacup in that shape and I love it. Thank you for joining my little tea party. It's a pleasure to have you!

    Blessings,
    Sandi

    1. The tea station is set up all the time, Kitty, as I make at least 1-2 pots of tea each day. I have a station set up at school, too. My Tim and I had such a nice time at the Lakeside Inn that we are going to go back in the autumn!

    1. Thank you, Maya! I love those canisters. I bought them at a great price from the Lenox website itself when they were having a sale.
