A "Doggies" Outfit For Preschool

Something special for sweet Kayla!

I made this little outfit for my friend's little girl last September (2015) when she started preschool at 3 years old.

I used some fabrics from my stash and a purchased knit collared shirt.  I hand embroidered a little dog in simple stem stitch, satin stitch, and little granitos. I outlined the collar in a red running stitch and changed out the buttons (stitched with red floss).

Doggy hand embroidery:  a Pinterest find.
No pattern was used for the skirt but I hemmed the bottom with ribbon on the right side of the fabric.

The little dog button is from a collection that must be over 70 years old that was given to me by a friend.
The buttons were her mother's.

I really loved seeing this on Kayla when I would see her with her classmates on the playground.  It has gotten too small for her now.  I guess I will just have to get busy and make another outfit!

Blessings to all who read this blog!

  2. Oh, that embroidery is so cute! I have some kitten fabric that all of my daughters are crazy for... a matched set with that fabric would be perfect!
